This portrait is fully customisable with your preferred form of Lord Swaminarayan. Every devotee has a different connection – some feel closest to Ghanshyam Maharaj, some to Sahajanand Swami, some to the Vadtal Harikrishna Mharaj. Whatever your devotion, we will create the line art portrait from the photo of the Lord that you hold dearest.
Simply WhatsApp us after placing your order with your preferred photo of the Lord – a temple photo, a calendar image, or any clear image you have. We will study the face, create the line art, and send you a digital preview for your approval before we make a single cut. Only after you say yes do we begin.
The red Chandlo is added on every piece as our signature touch. If your tradition uses a different tilak mark or you prefer the portrait without it, please let us know and we will honour that.
Line art is one of the most demanding forms of portrait craft. Instead of shading or printing, the entire portrait – every shadow, every highlight, every expression – is created purely through the spacing and thickness of hand-cut lines on paper. From a distance, you see the full face of Lord Swaminarayan. Up close, you see hundreds of precise cuts made by hand, one line at a time.
What makes this piece truly special is the red Chandlo – the sacred Swaminarayan tilak mark on the forehead. In a portrait that is entirely black and white, that single touch of red becomes the soul of the piece. It draws the eye. It signals the divine. It is the detail that makes a devotee stop and look twice.
This is not a printed photo. This is not a digital artwork. This is a portrait made the way portraits were made before machines existed – with a blade, with paper, and with complete attention to every single line.
Hi, I am Mitesh Patel. I made this portrait of Lord Swaminarayan the same way I make every piece in my studio – by hand, one line at a time, using a precision blade on paper. I am not an artist by training. I am someone who fell deeply in love with this technique and could not stop making things with it.
The idea for the red Chandlo came to me while I was finishing the portrait. The entire piece was black and white – and something felt incomplete. The moment I added that single stroke of red on the Chandlo, the portrait came alive. Every devotee who has seen it in person has said the same thing – it feels like he is looking back at you.
I make every piece myself. I do not outsource. I do not use a laser. If you order this portrait, I will make it with my own hands and send you a photo before I pack it.
