My name is Mitesh Patel and I want to tell you something straightforward about how I make these pet portraits.

Pet portraits are technically the most challenging thing I make. A human face follows predictable patterns — two eyes, a nose, a mouth, similar proportions across most people. A pet’s face is completely different every time. Every breed has a different structure. Every individual animal has features that make them look like themselves and nobody else.

When I receive your pet’s photo I do not apply a standard template. I study the actual features of your specific animal – the shape of their snout, the texture of their fur or feathers, the weight of their ears, the expression in their eyes. I build the line art design around what makes your pet look like your pet.

I have made portraits of Labradors, Pomeranians, Persian cats, street dogs that families adopted, a parrot that had been with a family for eleven years, and a rabbit that a little girl had named her best friend.
Every single one looked exactly like the animal in the photo. That is the only standard I work to.
