Hello to all the clever folks who discover cool stuff online, I’m MITESHKUMAR BABUBHAI PATEL – the name you’ll find on my Aadhar card and PAN card 😃

I haven’t been in business since the start of my career. I still work as an employee at an IT company. I work on my business idea during weekends, with my wife’s help in creating the products.

My wife and I started a business selling engagement ring platters on Amazon around August 2018. I believe we achieved great success as we were able to sell 300 units of a single product every month.

Running a business can be tough because there’s a lot of competition. You have to stay alert and come up with new ideas and products to keep your customers interested. But since I have a job and also run this side business, I can’t keep launching new products regularly on Amazon. And now, some other sellers are making nicer plates than mine using laser cut machines.

So, in 2019 I got a laser cutting machine to keep up in the market. But suddenly, Amazon changed its algorithm and now they only display my product in nearby states. They also require a brand certificate.

I’m getting a loan from the bank to buy a machine, and Amazon sales have dropped to around 50 units per month from 300 units per month. So, I need to focus more on my job again.

In March 2020, when Corona came, our business got hit badly. No orders were coming in and we had to keep paying the EMIs for the machines every month. Since then, till now, there has been hardly any progress in our business.

Now, this won’t happen again. If you’re reading this, it means my SEO efforts have paid off, I’ve connected with supporters of small businesses, and I’m starting to make some money.

Our Store

I transformed my father’s shop into my own store. I know there’s slim chance of customers visiting my shop in Kalol.

But I’ve made up my mind not to rely solely on one income source anymore. Earlier, I was only selling on Amazon.

This time I’m selling on Amazon with a registered brand name, as well as on other platforms like Flipkart, Messho, Etsy, my WooCommerce website, and my father’s physical store.
